when i had gmail on pc you just had to throw in youre username&password thats it so when this mint linux gmail asks me browser path i dont know what to put

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but why don't you use thunderbird to handle your gmail-account, since gmail now supports IMAP, there is no hassle at all in using it.
Otherwise, your browser path should be either "firefox", or possibly /usr/bin/firefox-bin, if I remember correctly.

ok got thunderbird running but i still want to try the gmail to see what its interface is like and puttin the usr dir thing didnt do it EDIT got it just took bin off end so it just said firefox and voila! thanks
