Games in Linux Mint 11

Postby ramthor on Fri Jun 15, 2012 12:22 am

Hello.

I'm having some issues with every game I try to install via wine. They appear to install just fine, but upon opening, they simply have the "Starting [game]..." at the bottom, then after a few minutes, that disappears and the game doesn't load. Upon trying to launch through the terminal, I get this:

Code: Select all
fixme:mountmgr:harddisk_ioctl unsupported ioctl 4d004
fixme:mountmgr:harddisk_ioctl unsupported ioctl 4d004
err:seh:setup_exception_record stack overflow 868 bytes in thread 0009 eip 7bc3dd1f esp 00230fcc stack 0x230000-0x231000-0x330000

I've got a feeling I'm missing something extremely simple....

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Wine is not a replacement for Windows, games especially may not work. Basically if you want to play Windows games, you need to use Windows. For other issues see http://www.winehq.org/

I know it isn't a replacement. The thing is though, I had the exact same games working on a different computer with either 11 or 12 (I forget which one it had), and I thought I went through the exact same process to install. That's why I'm not getting why nothing I try to put on this one is working, and was wondering if I missed/forgot something simple.

edit: I'll go there though (I'll probably pop back in a few times to see if anybody else answered and/or update on a solution if I get one (I personally hate when people find solutions and don't update threads they made asking for one :P)). Thanks.
