Mint Update ????????????????????????

Hey all, it seems as if mint update does not work anymore. the little icon in the taskbar for the update is always broke and it says errors while connecting.

but if i open a terminal and type
(sudo apt-get dist-upgrade) it updates. at least it does a whole bunch of downloading and says system up to date.

but i donot want to do this anymore. i just want the icon to blink and say (updates are available)


please help

There is an option in the Mint Update preferences to tick to include dist-upgrade packages automatically.
Enable it and see if it changes the way it behaves.

Edit: My padlock just opened showing 2 updates available (language packs), any luck?
