Synaptic/Mint Update/Deborphan solved

Hi all,

I am new to Mint, but not Linux. I am running Mint 4.0 KDE CE. I read over the LinuxMint 4.0 User Guide, but just so I don't hose my system, are the following true:

1. It is OK to use Synaptic to install New packages
2. You should Not use Synaptic to Update. Use Mint Update instead
3. It is OK to use "Aptitude purge $(deborphan)" from the CLI

It's true all three
To be honest I've not used purge deborphan but it should be ok, but not a command that you use frequently
apt-get autoclean would be about the same
