basic newbie setup question/Browser? Solved!!!

Postby bostonfan49 on Thu Jun 28, 2012 11:05 pm

I am having Mint 12 or 13/Mate installed on my 2+ year old Lenovo S10-3 Netbook. AV aside..All I want to do is surf the web and check my mail. I have all my Apple goodies for my serious computing. I am under the impression that after the install, I will be ready to go!!!.........maybe not? For what its worth, I love Yahoo! Sorry if I offend anyone but when I find something I like, I stick with it. Assuming that Yahoo is a go, plus gmail all I need is a fast browser. I like Firefox but if there is something faster out there, please let me know! Thanks, Bill

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

hi bostonfan49, welcome to the Mint forum. That's not an easy question to answer. All the major browsers are continually developing their code for faster results. The fastest one today may fall to second or third within a few weeks. It would also depend on the plug-ins and extensions you add. It's easy enough to install alternatives for trial. Have a look at Chromium and Epiphany. You should be able to get them via the Software Manager.
