Can't remove firefox without installing other debris?

I get the following ludicrous message when attempting to remove firefox:

Do I want to continue? No, I really don't.
Instead, I think I'd like to ram an unusually large and hideously expired squid into the gullets of those who thought of this! What's with so many damned things in Ubuntu-based distros being made immutable like this? At this rate, Ubuntu/Mint will be read-only by the next version! I can't remove mint-stylish-addon. I can't remove zeitgeist. I can't remove this or that. I .......... Linux or Apple?

PS: Because [...] was censored from the title, I'll ask it again, in a slightly different fashion: [...]?

Well, let's break down the [sic] "ludicrous" message into their relevant components, taking into proper context what it intends to do:

libcogl9 libseed-gtk3-0

Suggested packages:
epiphany-extensions nautilus apparmor

The following packages will be REMOVED:
firefox firefox-gnome-support

libcogl9 libseed-gtk3-0

Text in red:
It will remove a total of 2 packages: firefox and firefox-gnome-support (which is auto-selected since it is dependent on firefox). It will do what you actually want it to do in the first place.

Text in green:
These are just optional packages which may or may not enhance the additional software that needs to be installed. You're not required to install them, hence "suggested."

Text in blue:
Now, why would it want to install the epiphany browser (and a bunch of other "debris")? Googling "removing firefox auto selects epiphany browser" led me to this thread (it's actually the first one in the results that showed), which you may find relevant.

Now... about that panic attack...

o If an issue has been fixed, please edit your first post and add the word [SOLVED].

Thanks for the reply. The explanation suffices, but I still fear a future pullulation of dependencies; though I guess this forum is the wrong tree to bark up.
