Hi,
I'm a new user to linux however I dont like the default totem media player. I want to install VLC however which version of VLC do I use for Mint 4.0? Theres several versions on the website. Is it the Ubunto I use?

Why not just install VLC through the repos, through Synaptic, or in the Add/Remove Programs thing?
You can also use apt-get:
But if you really wanna get it from the site, yeah it's the Ubuntu version because Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu.
