wine: virtual memory exhausted

Postby missingfaktor on Tue Sep 04, 2012 10:02 am

I have two machines - a laptop and a desktop, both running Linux Mint 13, KDE, 64 bit. Wine works fine on laptop, but it doesn't work at all on my desktop. It was working until a couple of days ago, but has stopped working since then. Every time I try to run wine, I get "virtual memory exhausted" error.

I googled around a bit, and came across two suggestions:

1. removing ".wine" directory from home.
2. adding the current user to "audio" group.

I tried both, but neither fixes the problem for me. Please help.

PS: I posted this problem to #winehq IRC as well; didn't receive any replies.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Please don't post the same questions in multiple places such as http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2053010, or did you think we wouldn't notice and which begs the question whether you are even running mint? The wine forums are the place to ask about technical issues with wine.
[Edit] your original post and add [SOLVED] once your question is resolved.
