Software Manager has stopped working. I try to start it, the hard disk spins for about a minute, then nothing happens.
Also, update manager doesn't appear to be automatically checking for updates. I have it set to check every 15 minutes. I have to manually open it to find new updates.
Suggestions? Thank you.

Did you check out the thread directly below yours?
If I understand it correctly, the update mangler either doesn't have proper premissions to run, or it runs before your network connection is up. I kind of bounced around a bit.
Best to just check for updates within a terminal & ignore the update mangler icon in the tray.
I still have 12 on some of my machines & update mangler seems to work, I never use it, but it does tell you if something is available.
