Network Manager Doesn't Connect Automatically

Postby xvedejas on Tue Apr 08, 2008 6:14 pm

Which isn't to say it doesn't try, only that it fails.

When trying to connect to the internet automatically on start up, it never works. For it to work, I have to go and select the network myself in the network manager. I see no reason why this is needed at all.

Any reason for this? Any fix? Is there any tool I can install other than the default network manager that might not do this?

Otherwise, I'm new to Linux Mint and this is my only complaint! Very good compared to other distros I've tried.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I understand by your words you're working with wireless networks. The only thing I imagine might be is that the password the network needs to accept you is not correct. So you have to click it manually, enter the correct password, and then you have access. So try to see which password is used automatically.

There is no password, no encryption. It tries to connect automatically, but that doesn't work. When I select the network, however, it does.

Just out of curiosity, have you gone to Terminal, typed

Code: Select all
sudo gedit /etc/modules

added ndiswrapper to the list and then saved it?

The reason I ask is because I used to need to manually connect to my wireless network via my Network Manager *until* I added ndiswrapper to modules.
