Schoelje
Take it you are still monitoring this thread.
I have been resurrecting my old media centre and put my old Nvidia FX 5200 card in it (as it is one of those rare fanless cards and therefore silent). I seem to remember me trying this card for you before and reporting that DDM did not find it. IIRC you said the driver was now unsupported or something. But now I have just installed LMDE up5 KDE and DDM came up showing the pae kernel and the 5200 card as available. I installed the pae kernel and then the driver and it installed just fine (173 series legacy driver).
Not sure why this time but anyway it is more info for you. I used the ddm window dialogue rather than the console command so don't appear to have a log file. If you want any more info just ask.

I'm happy it worked this time (and with the correct drivers that is). A log is not necessary, but thanks again for the feedback: it's nice to hear when things are going right.arjay wrote:Not sure why this time but anyway it is more info for you. Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
Just used DDM to successfully install Nvidia in Mint 14 RC NADIA - Cinnamon (64bit)
There is this FAILED issue above.?
EDIT:
As "zerozero" points out in a post below. The issue is a know bug with inxi.

Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
Hi Gene
i believe that is
i believe that is
but if you look at http://community.linuxmint.com/iso/view/156 (latest Clem's comments) it looks like a known issue (even with jockey or whatever it is called now )FAILED: nvidia
Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
Hey 'zz'.
Wasn't sure if the FAILED was pointing to Nouveau or Nvidia.... , but Nvidia worked, so...
OK. Good. Nothing for Schoelje to worry about then. Actually DDM works sweet. Very simple to use, and has always worked for me.
Didn't see Jockey (or any other driver installer in Nadia).
EDIT:
Yes, it does appear to be the very same failure Issue that Clem is reporting with INXI. Some issues to be expected with an RC.

Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
Wow, you've been busy!
Although not completely perfect, I'm very happy it has nothing to do with DDM

Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
I cannot seem to find anything regarding Quadro cards as in regard to series and which drivers to use, but I bet your system is a Toshiba Tecra M10 which is supported in Ubuntu 10.04 (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/har ... 00810-880/).den68 wrote:here it is :thanksCode: Select all

Please run the following code:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install nvidia-current nvidia-settings
Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
For the sake of argument:
Can I presume that all Nvidia Quadro cards need the latest drivers (nvidia-current)?

Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
on Nvidia website, I usually look for it this way : NVS -> NVS (notebooks) -> Quadro NVS 150M,
and this is the webpage I get : http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-disp ... river.html
yes it is supported on Ubuntu, Jockey used to find its way around in Mint 12 and 13.
I will try to install via apt-get as you suggested, wish me luck

seems to have worked, here is my updated inxi output :
thanks for your support ! I hope I've helped making your tool more complete

Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
@den68
You certainly did.
The code is not ready for Quadro chip sets, so I need to change that.
However, before I can do that I hope there are people here who have more insight than I when it concerns Nvidia Quadro cards on Ubuntu.
The question still stands:
Can I presume that all Nvidia Quadro cards need the latest drivers (nvidia-current)?

Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
might not be the case... if I look for Quadro NVS 50 for example, Nvidia site suggests to install driver version 96.43.23
so maybe only for newer versions of Quadro boards you can install Nvidia current.
would be nice to find a complete up-to-date official compatibility matrix

Yes, that would be nice...but to date, I haven't found anything, not even an incomplete listden68 wrote:would be nice to find a complete up-to-date official compatibility matrix
Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed
I've been spending hours to find out which drivers are needed for Nvidia cards...no luck...again. So I must assume it does not exist...
Well I was desperate enough to post the question here:
