How come when I turn the Firewall Configuration ON, then close out, and re-open the application, it shows that it is OFF? How do I turn it ON and leave it on?

Mine does the same thing.

I was trying to indicate that you are not the only one with this problem. I wonder why this topic isn't getting more attention.

Is this what you see?

When opening the program - before you click unlock and enter password - This when you enter password - This is normal for gufw (I don't know why it is this way - it is confusing).
Once you've done it and unless you turn it off yourself, it should then be set to on.

If unconvinced and you want to check whether the firewall is on, you can open a terminal and enter or If it says "active" - then it's on.
If it says "inactive" - then it's off and you need to enable it.

Thanks! Yes I ran that command in terminal and it says that it is active even though is says "OFF" on the program.

My Firewall shuts itself off. If I close my laptop and reboot I have to go into the firewall everytime and set it to on. I don't understand why it keeps shutting itself off and can't stay on. Any ideas anyone ?.
