Power Management settings ignored

Hello everyone, I installed Mint recently for the first time and I find it very good.
Quite everything works as it sould but I have a couple of problems. I am sorry for having not found an appropriate forum category to write this.

I'm using a Linux Mint 14 - 64bit with MATE on a HP G62 notebook.
I went in Power Management Preferences and, in the tab "On AC Power", I choose the following settings:

Put computer to sleep when inactive for: Never
Put display to sleep when inactive for: Never
Set display brightness to: 100%
Dim display when idle: NOT checked

After this (and a reboot), my monitor still goes black after 10 minutes of inactivity.
I reentered the Power Management Preferences and found the settings the way I set them so they are saved somewhere but not "active" somehow.

Except for the obvious question "How to solve it?" I was wondering: "Where are the relevant files with this options?"

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello dogiordano and welcome to Mint.

go to Menu >Preferences > Screensaver > Power Management tab Make sure the put display to sleep when inactive for is set to never.

That should do it.

Thank you!
I didn't check yet but I'm sure that will solve my problem as it already happened to me some time ago on OpenSuse (and I forgot how I solved it meanwhile).

Anyway, I still would like to know where are this settings saved in the system so I won't mark this as solved yet.
