Hi,

I am using Linux Mint in a "corporate" environment, where I have a laptop and my files reside on a server that I access via Samba - the linux mint laptop does not store anything. Occasionally I take long journeys e.g. via train where I am not connected to the server via VPN/internet but would like to work on (some of) my files. What is "best practice" in the linux world for doing this? How do people normally approach this? I can manually do syncs from the server before I leave, and sync back onto the sever when I get home again using rsync... But is there a more elegant solution that I've overlooked?

You could write a script that looks for the server and sync if it is there on login...

Dropbox, Google+, etc depending on the sensitivity of the data contained in the 1s & 0s
