Software Manager and Synaptic Not working

I'm running mint 12 and my software manager and Synaptic Package Installer just suddenly stopped working for me. Whenever I open Synaptic, it'll keep loading for a while, not letting me do anything then close automatically, and as far as software manager goes, I'll click the icon and my cruiser will do the little loading thing, but it never opens.

Try opening a terminal and running:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Then try:

Code: Select all

mintinstall

If Software Manager then comes up normally, problem solved. If it doesn't, see if it outputs any errors on the terminal that may be helpful to analyse the cause.
