somthing like norton ghost for mint?

want to make back up image of my mint incase it starts acting up and cant be recovered just format and reinstall the image

You can always use rsync from the command line, but if you want a nice pretty program try Clonezilla-live.

ok so does this do like norton ghost install a program on the computer then run program and backup or what? im speaking of clonezilla thanx

hmm how would i edit the boot up of the clonezilla because to install linux mint i had to put acpi=off even to get into live cd

It is very likely that it will boot ok. It has been a while since I looked at this program, but I am sure there is a way to enter boot options if needed. You will just have to look at the documentation if it won't boot directly.
