Backport - update problem

Postby vinoman on Fri Jan 04, 2013 12:14 pm

Today's update brought up these errors:

Failed to fetch http://packages.linuxmint.com/dists/may ... slation-en Unable to connect to packages.linuxmint.com:http:

Failed to fetch http://packages.linuxmint.com/dists/may ... tion-en_US Unable to connect to packages.linuxmint.com:http:

Is there a problem with backports on MInt 13? I'm running Mint 13 with backports to Mint 14. Has this cause trouble for other users?

I unchecked backports in synaptic and I get this error:

Failed to fetch http://packages.linuxmint.com/dists/may ... tion-en_US Unable to connect to packages.linuxmint.com:http:
Failed to fetch http://packages.linuxmint.com/dists/may ... slation-en Unable to connect to packages.linuxmint.com:http:

Failed to fetch http://packages.linuxmint.com/dists/may ... slation-en Unable to connect to packages.linuxmint.com:http:
Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Is there been a problem with updates lately?

Not a network problem on this end & I can fetch those indices in a browser. What gives??

This is the only way I could get by Failed to fetch.

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

sammiev's workaround seems to have fixed it (for now). Now to figure out why....

Anyway - tnx!

Yes, it helped me too. Some things installed. This could be a temporary server issue that will be resolved.
