Software Manager program list issue.

I am a new user as of Jan 16, 2013 and have noticed a problem in "Software Manager" regarding the list of available programs. When I select a category, "Science and Education", for example, and scroll down through the available programs, the button (or down arrow) bottoms out without running through the entire alphabetical listing, leaving most of the additional programs beyond a certain letter unavailable for viewing. In the case of "Science and Education", it stops somewhere in the listing of programs beginning with the letter "F", beyond which I can go no further. "System Tools" only scrolls as far as the letter "D". And so on. I have looked into all the "file", "edit", etc. options on the toolbar and see nothing of any help. Am I missing something, or is this a legitimate issue?
