the screenlets ppa that you are using has no support for quantal/mint14
delete it from your repos
you have (if you updates for screenlets) to use the development ppa
https://launchpad.net/~screenlets-dev/+archive/ppa

These screenlets are included in Linux Mint official software repository

which screenlets, Brahim?
the screenlets showed here
http://www.noobslab.com/2012/01/install ... buntu.html are not part of the official mint/ubuntu repository, are provided by a third-part ppa
and the ppa you were using only supports until precise/mint13, if you want suport for mint14 you have to replace that one with the one i gave you above (the development ppa)

I found them in the software manager and haven't added this PPA manually
Should I remove their PPA totally from my software sources.
It's listed as
http://ppa.launchpad.net/screenlets/ppa/ubuntu quantal main
By the way I've just updated Linux Mint 14 Mate with the same screenlets installed with no problems
Should I try:
Code: Select all
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update

yes, both: the one you have highlighted and the one just above it.

Should I report that to lanchpad??? How can they include unsupported software
I will remove them and speak to Clem. about that

Brahim,
not trying to stop you here but Clem has nothing to do with this: that ppa is not part of mint's default installation, was added after and therefore it's the user responsibility to watch the compatibility of the software post-installed.
furthermore that ppa is not exactly unsupported, has support for mint 13/ ubuntu precise.

I know of these commands:
Code: Select all
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update
But I don't know whether they will be useful I will try them anyway!!

it says the same in 99,99% of all ppa's in launchpad.
it's much easier to add some commands you see in an howto online and never see the warnings?
it's much easier if i give a link like this one
http://www.noobslab.com/2011/08/install ... -1104.html no warnings, just nice things
it's the same.
Edit: the commands you listed in the last post have nothing to do with the error you are having.
