recently Firefox updated to version 18.0. When it did that, it crippled the Flash plugin, and now it's very difficult to view any flash stuff in FF. YouTube works initially, but then to view a different video, or simply refresh the page, the plugin fails. Or it just downright doesn't work, saying that Flash isn't installed or needs updating.

Flash-Aid 2.2.3 says that there isn't any new version available, and the plugins window of FF doesn't show Flash being on the list.

Has this happened to anyone? Is there a solution that I'm missing? Whenever I Google/Bing the problem, for some reason, it comes up with solution for FF4.x.

It's working fine for most everybody else. Did you install your own version of Flash, or are you using Linux Mint's Flash version? I'd recommend you just remove all your Flash packages and then install it anew by installing the mint-flashplugin.

I'm using ff18 and flash is still working the same as in the past. 'Colbert Nation', 'Rachel Maddow', 'Washington Week' and 'To The Point' all work. The problem might be elsewhere.

For info I have no such problems with FF18.

Trouble with You Tube is that it uses a mix of Flash and html5 these days which might explain why it works one minute and not the next.

When you have tried the command visit a flash test site like this:

http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/Page3901.aspx

And see if you can view the animation.

that would be a maybe. I used the add-on "Flash-Aid" to install Flash for FF. Would that be classed as installing my own version or not?

How do I uninstall the Flash plugin when it's not listed in FF?

Chrome uses its own built in version of Flash. Don't know about Opera.

Oops. Sorry. I use multiple browsers for one reason or another, but mainly for developing websites so that I can test pages.
