I've just installed Mint 14, the Cinnamon edition, twice and both times when I try to open up and use the update manager right after installation, I get an error and am unable to proceed. I was going to copy the exact text of the error's explanation and post it here, but firefox would not open. After that, I was going to copy and paste it into a .txt file, to be transferred to this computer via USB. However, when I plugged in my USB there was another error. It said it could not be mounted because it was a "Read-only file system". I mention this, because all of the errors with the update manager also mentioned "Read only filesystems".
I'm a fairly large noob when it comes to linux, so any and all input is likely helpful. Thanks!
Oh, I almost forgot my computer specs:
nVidia GTX460 1GB Graphics Card
1 TB hard drive
Dual Core AMD Phenom II Processor
4GB RAM

You may have fallen victim to this major kernel bug...It said it could not be mounted because it was a "Read-only file system".
