I tried to install Cinelerra from PPA with htese commands:
- Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cinelerra-ppa/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cinelerra
And got this error ;

mint@mint-Inspiron-N5040 ~ $ sudo apt-get install cinelerra
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package cinelerra is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package 'cinelerra' has no installation candidate

try this way

apt install cinelerra-cv

I was having the same problem but when I try this command with cv in the end it work fine.
1) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cinelerra-ppa/ppa
2) sudo apt-get update
3) sudo apt-get install cinelerra-cv
