I'm not understanding from your description what your problem or question is. Can you perhaps describe it a little more, or add a screenshot?

ok will try to be clear !

open "software manager" it asks for a p/word

software manager , as it is loading reports 63251 packages available

today , the "games" icon reports 1857 packages
when you click on "games" the subtotal of the sub catergories is 101 packages not 1857

what am i missing ! ?

hoping it is a down under problem !

I only wanted a spider solitaire , alas it is no more :(

Not all games are organized in a sub category. So the sum of the packages listed on the sub categories (under the Games category) isn't equal to the number of packages in the Games category itself. The Software Manager will only show 500 packages, so also the list of packages displayed isn't going to be 1800+...

If however you search for "solitaire" you should find a few card games. Aisleriot has a huge collection of card games, amongst them Spider. So you could install that, it's very nice looking.

thank you for that .
I thought at first I may have turned something off .
When you are new to an operating environment ,gaining and understanding of how things work does take time
thanks again
