Has anyone figured out how to open docx files created from MS-Word in LibreOffice ?
If no, can it be done using some other word processor ? Or do I have to install Office in Windows running in VirtualBox ?

Unfortunately, Libreoffice don't open password-protected word docs.

I think that you will need install windows/office in virtualbox to open these documents.
