I've always had this issue, but I'm just now getting tired enough of it do something about it

On my laptop when i put in my flash drive(or any other usb storage like my phone it seems) and choose either unmount or eject a window("xfce4-places-plugin") pops up saying that its writing data and not to unplug it, even if I haven't done anything to the flash drive. I click ok and it grays out the entry for that device, if I click cancel it is gone. Running Mint 13 XFCE.

Do you have other desktop environments installed by any chance?

I have this same problem (mint 13 xfce 4.1). It is very annoying. Every time I eject a drive I get two warning dialogs. Is there a better way to eject a drive?

EDIT: This post speculates it might be a problem with XFCE. Another poster uses the terminal or diskutility to unmount without warnings/errors.

Another thread links to a script that emulates the missing "safely remove drive" option.

There appears to be an application called "ejecter" that unmounts drives, but I have not tried it and don't know if it will give the same errors.

And that's as far as I got.
