Terminal and Fortune..

Postby MeansWell on Sat May 17, 2008 10:27 am

OK, someone had to ask this and I'll cop the flack for it cheerfully.
fortune is fun - yes, even the 'readers digest' version as seen here.
fortune -u is more fun and possibly Not Safe For Work.
What I'd like to do is be able to find the script that sets fortune to work in terminal so I can 'add' the switch - for my own edification and amusement, you'll understand.

Can anyone direct me to the appropriate file, please?

You could make a bash script and create a launcher set to run it from the terminal. Something like this:
Code: Select all
#!/bin/bash
fortune -u

Then do
Code: Select all
 chmod +x /path to script

Make a launcher pointing to the script and set it to run from terminal and use that to open terminal whenever you need to.
