[SOLVED] Touhou 7 WINE problem

Postby P1xel on Sat Feb 23, 2013 1:54 am

Hi! I'm a sort of beginner in Linux (not in tech) and I am attempting to run a Touhou application.

I am attempting to run th07e.exe from this link : http://theisozone.com/downloads/pc/wind ... h-patched/

So I go into the Konsole and type my cd command to the directory. Then I type

Code: Select all
LANG="ja_JP.UTF-8" wine th07e

I also tried it without the quotes. However the game always just either closes instantly or continously scrolls through the mode selection.

I get this output from wine in the console:

fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x33f854,0x00000000), stub!
fixme:win:WINNLSEnableIME hwnd (nil) enable 0: stub!
^[OA^[OAfixme:win:WINNLSEnableIME hwnd (nil) enable 1: stub!

Could anyone PLZ help me with this problem? :?
All my friends are playing this game on their windows, I want to prove them I can do it in Linux.

you may want to try the commercial version of win:-
https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibili ... search=app
it has several of the "Touhou" applications in there & most seem to be running A.ok.

"Touhou 7: Perfect Cherry Blossom" is listed as Gold - that is - it runs perfectly.

So you want me to buy some CrossOver application? Seems a little bit suspicious. Can't wine just do it?

according to the Wine website it runs perfectly : http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... n&iId=5810

you may want to check that page and see what you are doing wrong.

by supporting the Commercial variant - you also support wine itself.
- they are a principle supporter of wine - as in $$$
- so a license for their product - is a good move.
- they also do a lot of the "behind-the-scenes' work - for wine

& they are are quite a small company - in both size & workers.

so - support them - it's well worth the $$$ that you give to their product.

Errr, there's no 'How we ran this file' video etc

There's really no info. I followed the wiki of touhou with the commands, but it just doesn't work...

Sometimes, it automatically goes into the difficulty selection screen and cycles by itself through the options....

I get this

fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x33f854,0x00000000), stub!
fixme:win:WINNLSEnableIME hwnd (nil) enable 0: stub!
fixme:win:WINNLSEnableIME hwnd (nil) enable 1: stub!

!!!!!!!!!!

OMG
It randomly works now!
I opened custom.exe and clicked what I thought was the OK button (bottom right corner) then I right clicked on the th07e exe and the game works so far so good!!!!!!!

I don't need any stinking japanese locale code! This is weird....

Found the culprit in custom.exe!

It was DirectInput, needed to tick that.

When ever i format my hard drive and reinstall the first thing i do when i install Wine is install the following :

DirectX
Dotnetframework 1.1, 2.0, 3.5, 4.0
MSMXL 3.0
XNA 3.1
VC Runtime 2003, 2005, 2008, 2010
comctl32.ocx
comdlg32.ocx
IE8

I install those in wine since ALOT of windows programs seem to use them, its probly why i almost never get problems running windows apps. Netframework can be tricky to install tho, ive had much headaches with those( the trick to installing Netframework is to install one after the other and NOT to click reboot when asked, just keep install till they all done then click reboot ). After that i have very little problems with wine.
