Binvox and Viewvox installation

Postby whatswithgravity on Tue Feb 26, 2013 3:04 am

Can someone walk me through the installation of Binvox and Viewvox, found here, like I'm a particularly slow child?

The site said I needed something called GLUT, so I downloaded "freeglut3" from the Package Manager. If that was a wrong turn tell me.
I also downloaded the "Linux 64 bit executable" but it won't run with or without the executable option enabled.

Running Mint 13 in case that's relevant.

- Thanks, Guys!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

There is nothing to install. Download binvox and viewvox and you can use them both after having enabled the executable option. You may have misunderstood, but these applications do not have a graphical user interface. You use them from the command line.

Let's assume you have downloaded binvox and viewvox too your Downloads folder. Open the terminal application from your menu. Type the following command (followed by enter key to execute the command) to go to the Downloads folder.
Code: Select all
cd Downloads

Then you can start binvox and viewvox as follows. It will share the list of command line options you can use to tell it what to do.
Code: Select all
./binvox

Code: Select all
./viewvox

Both include an example of that also.
