I have been using Mint for over a year now on my main desktop at home, and have been very happy with it except for this: some windows, mainly Firefox/Thunderbird, will not show any consistency in the way they open. I prefer windows opening in the center or, at least, where I closed them. It's very annoying to have them open in the upper left. In 13/Maya, I found the small utility “gDevilspie,” and that worked nicely. Now I have upgraded to 14 (Cinnamon), and not only is the problem back, Devilspie does not help, and Firefox often opens maximized, not how or where I want it to. Even LibreOffice, which before always opened centered as expected, once in a while opens off-center. Strange...
Minor window control of this type seems like such a basic and obvious need. It would be very nice to be able to set it then forget it. Is there no solution for this in Mint 14?
