I agree.
It should be installed by default...
I also managed to get it working on Mint 15 (MATE) 64bit
I used sources from caja-actions 1.6.2
While installing, I created a .deb using "checkinstall" ([url]http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/162[/url])
You can grab it here: (64bit only)
[url]http://www.avanosch.nl/projects/caja-actions[/url]
The .deb installs/uninstalls fine on my system (not tested on any other installations)
Hope it helps someone out...

Any chance of caja-actions being added to synaptic?

I would like caja-actions pre-installed with LM 17.
Currently using LM 9 LTS since 2011. I rely heavily on nautilus-actions, so in preparation for LM 17 LTS, I decided to build caja-actions just to see how it goes.
* Build system: LM 13 MATE 32-bit w/ backports and latest updates
* Source code: caja-actions 1.7.1 downloaded from here:
-
https://github.com/NiceandGently/caja-actions
It seems to work fine. Definitely more added features and options than what I'm used to with nautilus-actions on LM 9.
I created a 32-bit .deb using "checkinstall" but nowhere to post.

On a new installation of Mint 17 Mate, I downloaded the 64 bit deb package posted by AvanOsch above, and it installed OK.
Caja Actions Configuration Tool could be run from the command line, as caja-actions-config-tool, and it picked up my old Nautilus Actions files (and made complete sense of them) without the need for me to import them.
However, nothing appeared in Caja. After much messing around, I found that the code files for the Caja Actions
extension had been installed in a directory different from all other Caja extensions. Once I copied them over to the "right" directory, everything worked fine:
cd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/caja/extensions-2.0/
sudo cp -p /usr/lib/caja/extensions-2.0/libcaja-actions-* .

I built Caja-Actions for 32-bit again, this time on Linux Mint 17.
* Build system: Linux Mint 17, MATE, 32-bit, w/ latest updates (as of 2014-08-21)
* Source code:
caja-actions 1.8.0
* Build dependencies:
- - yelp-tools (3.10.0-1)
- libgtk2.0-dev (2.24.23-0ubuntu1.1)
- libunique-dev (1.1.6-4ubuntu2)
- libgtop2-dev (2.28.5-2)
- libxml2-dev (2.9.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu4.3)
- uuid-dev (2.20.1-5.1ubuntu20.1)
- libcaja-extension-dev (1.8.1-0+qiana)
- docbook-utils (0.6.14-3ubuntu1)
- checkinstall (1.6.2-4ubuntu1)
The 32-bit .deb, built with checkinstall, is posted
HERE.

Thank you for this! If you ever put it in a repository let us know.
I'd prefer it to just come pre-installed, of course.

You're welcome. I will let you know if I publish to a PPA. However, I need to learn how first.
For 64-bit users, there's a link on the
GitHub page that points to a 64-bit .deb that was built with source code version 1.7.1.
The only difference between 1.7.1 and 1.8.0 is the version number.
The link points to the 64-bit .deb that's posted
HERE.

You can send info to Umair at Noobslab he may add it to his ppa and site.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm already reading about how to create a PPA for some scripts I want to publish.
According to the
Launchpad PPA Help page, "Launchpad builds the packages onsite, and does not accept deb files". That means the folks at noobslab cannot use the .deb that I built.
I intend to setup a PPA when I get time (pesky day job and weekend honey-do list
).
In the meantime, I hope my fellow MATE users can use the .deb as a convenient stopgap.

@Thanks: No, the folks at
Ubuntu MATE are already building Caja-Actions on Launchpad. I've only been watching, not participating.
There are successful 32-bit Trusty builds
HERE, and 64-bit builds
HERE.
@Dave: I updated the 32-bit .deb package (linked in my post above, dated Aug 23, 2014) sometime around Apr 01, 2015, that I built with the latest 1.8.0 source that fixes the User's Manual under Help (F1) in the
Caja-Actions Configuration Tool. The manual is very good and can help you understand what Caja-Actions can do and how to configure.
