All screenshots are black

So I've been having a bit of trouble. All screenshots I take have a completely black screen, excepting a bar at the top which has the time centered and my name on the right. I've tried every way of taking screenshots I can think of, including running gnome-screenshot --interactive, and using other screenshot programs such as shutter. They all come out the same way.

I believe this issue is related to my Radeon driver, since this did not happen before I installed the driver.

Does anyone have any information about this at all? Thanks!

EDIT: Also, I'm running Mint 14 with Cinnamon, if that's of any use.

Maybe this can help with those blank images. I am running Mint 14 and I have noticed that if I move my image files to different locations, they seem to get "lost" by Gimp and my other editing applications. So, what I do is go to that image file from my desktop and select to open it with the application I want to view it in. Then, my image files all come back to life. Hope this helps.

Well the issue isn't that the image isn't showing up in an editor. There's actually a bar at the top with my username and the time along with a couple other things. The rest of the screenshot is black, however.

I too have this issue. I am using the Catalyst beta driver (latest). When hitting print screen the screen flashes, goes black for a split second and returns to normal. Something is causing the whole cinnamon environment to fall off the face of the earth momentarily upon trying to take a screenshot.

Example attached.

Any updates on this? I am having the same issue. It also effects apps like Teamviewer that I believe use a similar method of screen capture.
