Skyrim on WINE

Post by Tharkis »

So I've got Skyrim up and running under wine (through crossover) but I'm having a problem where the game hangs on exit. The screen stays (in fullscreen mode) and I'm unable to do anything. The only way i've found to exit this is to alt-tab and open up a commandline to killall the TESV.exe application. I was wondering if anyone had a workaround, or if not if there was a way to detect this hung process and kill it automatically?

Had a similar problem with another game running on wine. I fixed it like this:
- open Wine configuration
- switch to tab Graphics
- and check the box Emulate a virtual desktop
You can customize the Desktop size, but you don't have a fullscreen any longer.
I hope this solves your problem. - num7 -

It is a known issue that also happens on Windows.

Check the "TESV.exe becomes a Zombie process instead of quitting." comment on the wine AppDB page for more info:

Have Fun! :)
