Problems Installing Wine in 64bit Nadia

Postby PP133 on Sun Apr 21, 2013 5:40 pm

Hey gents, I'm having some issues installing Wine in 64bit nadia. I've gone through at least a dozen threads on others with similar problems but none of their solutions worked for me. I was hoping you guys might be able to help me out.

To start, here's the output that I get when I try to install wine:

Code: Select all
 # apt-get install wine
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
wine : Depends: wine1.5 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

And because I have a feeling you'll ask me to set the foreign architecture, I figured I'd save you the trouble:
Code: Select all
# dpkg --print-foreign-architectures
i386

Any ideas on what I could try to get this to work?

All suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi
any ppa repo added? Wine 1.4.1-0Ubuntu1 is the package version for Mint 14, and you will have no problems with dependencies. Remove the ppa repo (look in /etc/apt/sources.list.d), then sudo apt-get update.

Wow, I somehow missed this post. So sorry!

I did have some ubuntu ppa repos in that directory, so I moved them to a backup directory, ran apt-get update, and tried installing wine again:

Code: Select all
$ sudo apt-get install wine
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
