Two Firefox questions.

Post by ashboy »

Since I installed Nadia Xfce (migrated straight from Windows - haven't used Linux in a couple of years), I can't seem to view any Flash videos on youtube, Facebook or any other site. I went through the Firefox Linux FAQ, tried all it recommended, but nothing worked for me. When I right-click on a flash video, I do get a small menu where I can select "About Adobe Flashplayer 11.2.etc", so something does seem to work.

Secondly, I'm kind of missing my Facebook Lite plugin, which appears to be Windows only. I can barely abide with today's social network extravaganza, but it's important to keep up with the 'hood. I looked around a bit, but haven't really been able to find a suitable replacement. Is anyone aware of one?

Try Google Chrome and see if you still have the same problems.
Google Chrome can be found here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/b ... brand=CHMI.

Chrome has it's own Flash player built-in en doesn't depend on other sources.

I thought Firefox had the shockwave-flash plugin installed by default? I don't remember having to install it and I do have 11.2 on Firefox 20-- add-ons manager. I have no problems at all with flash, and I have flashblock installed. I watched my first ever Facebook video yesterday, it was flash. It worked fine. Maybe it isn't the browser. Maybe it's the desktop with all its specific packages or files. I have only tried Cinnamon, KDE and Unity with Compiz(I think-- whatever goes with Compiz). KDE has been the best of all, for me, on Ivy Bridge. Desktop does matter.

Well when I right-click on a video I do get a adobe related option to click on. So something is working as it should.
