firefox add on problem

Postby panini0 on Thu Jun 12, 2008 4:35 pm

first time using mint 5 Elyssa and have to say that its the best linux desktop i have used until now!
firefox 3 died on me many times when using flash player, so i decided to uninstall it and install firefox 2.
i had installed two language pack add ons in firefox 3.
i did apt-get remove firefox and strangly it didnt remove, so i just right clicked on mint menu and used uninstall option to remove it.
After this i installed firefox 2. i can still see the two add ons from firefox 3!! strangley they dont get uninstalled !! but now i cant install any new add ons :-( it simply gives me the error message and doesnt do any installation

the following line is highlighted in error console

/*** =Extra content ***/
#content-extra .extra { border: 1px solid #d8dcdf; -moz-border-radius: 6px; -webkit-border-radius: 6px; border-radius: 6px; }

can anyone please tell me how can i cleanly remove those two add ons and install new ones.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I had a similar problem and the workaround I figured was to show hidden files and folders in the home folder and delete the .mozilla folder there was.
Don't know if that does anything or not... but did the trick for me.
