Cant play games at native LCD Resolution?

Hey guys, I tried using both the default driver for my nvidia 8600GTS and also uninstalling that and reinstalling it using ENVY. Still no go.

When I set a games resolution to 1280 x 1024 which is my lcd's native resolution the game pops up but the start bar is still visible and the mouse is frozen, and I have to Crtl-Alt-Tab and log out and back in to use the computer again.

Playing games at 1024 x 768 fixes the issue, but they look pixelated.

I have tried this with several different FPS games, tremulous, and saurbraten to name a few.

Any idea's?

Thanks so much

You will need the 3D drivers to play most games at full screen. What errors did you get when you tried installing with envy?

sorry I worded that badly.

I can install nvidia drivers fine from the restricted drivers module, also I can use envy. Both work fine, with no errors.

Also I can play 3d games fine, as long as they are in 1024 x 768 or lower resolution. The native resolution of my lcd is 1280 x1024.

When I set games to run at 1280 x 1024 it appears in a window, I can still see the start bar and mouse cursor, and the mouse is frozen, however the game continues to play with the keyboard, so it is not frozen. Manually editing the resolution in the game .cfg files doesn't seem to help.

Also I have tried it on many games, with the same results.

Thanks so much
