Supertux is super slow

I installed Supertux through Synaptic, but when I try to run it, it is super slow. The problem is not a slow computer, as a XFLD liveCD (an XUbuntu derivative) had this game on it and ran without problems.

I don't think I have any video driver problems, but not certain. I have an Nvidia 7600 GT video card. (And AMD X2 3800+, 1 GB RAM) I wasn't sure if I needed to run Envy or not because my video display seemed fine, though I hadn't run any video intensive programs.

I tried to run Envy and install Nvidia drivers, but Envy crashed the whole system. Even the recovery in Grub wouldn't work, and uninstalling through Envy didn't work either. I ended up re-installing Mint 2.2 all over and not touching Envy this time.

Follow the directions here:
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2007/02/22 ... untu-edgy/
Then check /etc/X11/xorg.conf
The "Device" section should show your video card.
The driver should show "nvidia" and not "nv". Change if necessary.

I followed the Pendrivelinux example and it worked. I was a little worried when it was making me configure everything else that I might screw up something else, but so far, so good.

I didn't check my xorg.conf file yet, but Supertux is working fine now.

Anyone know of other good Linux games for 5 yr. olds? He loves Nintendo style games.
