mintBackup - how to restore?

Postby spatch on Sun Jun 22, 2008 1:43 pm

Hi

I've just done a fresh install of Elyssa. However, before I did this, I took a backup of home using mintBackup.
I have a file called 'home_20080617213255.backup'

Now I've done the fresh install, I can't work out how to restore my backup of home.

Anyone done this before?

Thanks

Al :?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Double click the backup file to start the restoration. What happens from there I don't know as I haven't used it yet.

Thanks.

When I do this, the computer waits for 15-20 seconds, then I get a mintBackup error

'An error occurred while opening the backup:
tar xvf backup.tar --> 512'

Any ideas?

No unfortunately I haven't actually tried to restore a mint backup yet, so I don't know what might be causing your problem.

I tried opening the file using file-roller and got this error...

tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

I suspect the archive is stuffed!

Is there anything that I can do to recover data from the file do you think?
