Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Hello, malligt.

In this case Google is right and wrong at the same time. This problem affects a lot of Ubuntu and Mint systems, not only Mint 14 KDE: The Medibuntu project comes to an end

In case you are not familiar with changing the repository lists manually or using a GUI programme like Synaptic or MintUpdate, it is recommended to visit this thread and go through it carefully:

The solution on that link did not work for me.

Attempting to look at software sources in update manager gives this error

Hello, GSimpson.

In this case, please, post the output of the commandline
Code: Select all
inxi -r
This will reveal in which of the sources list files the medibuntu repository is mentioned.
Up to Mint 14 more likely than not the file will be /etc/apt/sources.list.
The identified file has to be edited with root privileges and the line reading "deb packages.medibuntu.org <blah><blah>" has to be commented out by prefixing a hash # to. Or it can be removed permanently, because Medibuntu will not come back.
Once the offending line has been disabled/removed you should run the commandline
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
This will have the same effect as clicking on [Refresh] inside mintUpdate. The repository list will be read and the repositories will be queried.
Provided no more errors occur the problem has been solved.

In case you are not familiar with changing the repository lists, it is recommended to visit this thread and go through it carefully:
