Petra KDE 32 bit update error....

Postby lawrencemaria on Tue Jan 07, 2014 4:45 pm

I have Linux mint 16 KDE 32 bit version installed.
I tried to configure a USB tuner stick to XBMC and after that I begin to get this error...
Trying out may options such as mediubuntu.org keys etc., did not resolve teh issue.
Any solutions?

Agreed, you shouldn't be using the jaunty repository with Linux Mint 16 (jaunty is for Linux Mint 7 ).

If the repository had been correct, you would add the missing verification keys by opening Konsole and running the following five commands (one at a time, in this order):
Code: Select all
gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv 2BBD133164234534
gpg --export --armor 2BBD133164234534 | sudo apt-key add -

gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv A956EB81318C7509
gpg --export --armor A956EB81318C7509 | sudo apt-key add -

sudo apt-get update

However in your case you should open Software Sources from your menu and on the PPAs tab delete the XBMC entries there. Then if you want XBMC on this installation, you should add the XBMC PPA there by clicking the button to add a PPA and entering this string: ppa:team-xbmc/ppa

That should automatically fetch the needed verification keys.

I was delighted to get a reply almost for the first time -and one that is relevant...
On execution of the first command you gave itself -an error came out...
I tried also without sudo... it was of no use.. Is there cure?
------------------------------------------------
sudo gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv 2BBD133164234534
gpg: requesting key 64234534 from hkp server subkeys.pgp.net
?: subkeys.pgp.net: Connection refused
gpgkeys: HTTP fetch error 7: couldn't connect: Connection refused
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0
------------------------------------------------
The errors started cropping up when i (due to my folly) tried to capture my Hauppauge Nova-T Stick inside XBMC -just for an experiment (following the XBMC addon for capturing usb TV stick).
It created a folder called HTS parallel to my Home folder. I really do not know how to re-trace my steps! I wish I never ventured into it!
My beloved Me-TV app and other TV apps do not any more capture the USB TV stick! It simply says: "There are no DVB devices available"
Can you be my saviour...? The nicy USB TV stick has become now dead meat!

EDIT... after trying to ticking off manually the offending PPA entries there is no update error now....!
