OPENSOURCE ADOBE FLEX 3 INSTALL

Post by jasondranedesigns »

OK IM kind of a NOOB but so far i have found linux very easy to use. I am a graphic designer by trade and have been able to transition to linux with out too many problems. UNTIL NOW ( insert dramatic pause sound here)
I was trying to install Adobe's open source version of Flex SDK. I DL the files and begin the install. It prompts me that JDK and ANT need to be installed. I used the package manager to install these, rebooted, login in and tried to build the SDK in shell, and again the same error stating that JDK and ANT are not installed. I was wondering if anyone has successfully built the FLEX app in MintOS? If so, could I please get a NOOB guide to installing this app. I have eclipse installed and I am using the Commercial ($$$$) trial version, but I would perfer to use the open sourced version, since after all I made the switch completely from windoesn't to LINUX!

Thanks For your Help in advance,

Jason Drane

I found some info on building Flex 4 svn.
It might help in building Flex 3.

My response comes somewhat late, but I have been messing around with Flex myself lately. I wrote a guide on building flex apps using Komodo Edit and Flex SDK at http://blog.rootkowski.com/get-started- ... -on-linux/. Hope it helps

Cheers
