hey i'm new to linux totally and i'm just wondering how to upgrade/update wine, im currently running felicia and i've already gone through some of the old steps like sudo apt-get install wine, but as most of you know its the 1.0.1 and im trying to install 1.1.9 cos my friend is running it on Ubuntu and it works flawlessly for him.
I have used sudo apt-get remove wine and i opened the wine-1.1.9 folder in terminal and navigated to the install.exe in the tools folder and it starts to configure but it keeps talking about i don't have x development files and i would need xlib/xfree86 packages, now i have installed bison and and the other package that it needed but i cant seem to get my hands on the xlib/xfree86 packages i need. can anyone help?

Ok i looked a lil bit deeper into this mystery and picked up a nugget of insight that told me to use sudo apt-get install xorg-dev. So i went back to installing wine-1.1.9 and it seems to work. Its compiling and what not but, will this solve my problem :S.
