Very annoying thing in linux, even win 95 had it right

Not dissing anything but this is VERY childishly annoying
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

I mean for example when windows is running windows update, it doesn't stop us from installing or uninstalling anything (because right after getting mint i tried all 3 at the same time, too bad updates are really long [and to think mac users hated on windows' updates lol])

So could someone smarter than me please fix this? Thanks for all your hard work guis.

And windows has online sources of free software?

Just stop the task or wait for it to finish.

Changing this would require major changes to dpkg, for very little benefit. How often do you need to install more than one program at a time?
