Firefox asploded - no XBL binding for browser solved

Postby MOP on Fri Sep 12, 2008 6:20 am

Whenever I try to launch firefox 2 or 3 I get the following error: Error launching browser window:no XBL binding for browser

Now, the thing is, I never heard of XBL bindings. I searched in Synaptic for them, and the information I got was about a tetris-like game. nothing displays in the terminal when I try to run firefox. What happened?

This is happening because you have an incompatible extension installed from another version
Run FF in safe mode to disable faulty extension(s)
In a terminal
firefox -safe-mode

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

I figured that out shortly after posting the thread. But for some strange reason, that still didn't do the job(Firefox wouldn't even open in safe mode) HOWEVER restarting my system changed that.
