EnvyNG - nvidia driver

Postby KriX on Sat Oct 04, 2008 2:01 pm

Hello Guys,

i have a problem ...
till today i had no problems with my linux. I could play with it and do all the things i wanted.
But, in Games the pointer was a little bit slow, so it was a bit annoying :-(
In a tutorial about eliminating this problem, there was the point to install the program "xorg-driver-fglrx".
This was not the best choice :-(

After a reboot i couldn't recognize my Desktop,
the display was set to 800x600 and the font was so damn small that i can't read anything.

I tried to uninstall the nvidia driver, but this can't be the reason.
With this configuration, i can't play any games ... :(

Now i wanted to install the nvidia driver again (with EnvyNG - automatically).
However ... it's the same problem again.
The resolution is 800x600 (i can change it, but i don't know to what resolution, because i can't read the text :( )
and the Font is small ... again. (all windows ... applications, desktop .. whatever)

Here is an example screenshot with the calculator application:

Does anyone know the perfect reason for my problem?

(Sorry about my bad English, i hope you can understand it a little bit)

Thanks.

If the font gets small(er) you have a higher resolution not a lower
install the program "xorg-driver-fglrx".

huh?
What do you mean?

And why did you install then?
It is certainly an ATI driver
Remove it and install a nvidia driver

This is bizarre - when you decrease resolution fonts are larger - have you ever decreased the resolution on your desktop?
To be on the safe side - which fonts?
All? In some specific application like Firefox?

I tried every resolution in the displaysettings, from 800x600@75 to 1920x?
and all fonts are small, the fonts at on the desktop and in all other applications, too...

Then you have a problem with fonts
Control Center > Appearance > Fonts
I have size 10 in 1280 by 1024 and it's a good size
AND
this is my post number 10 000 - no wonder my keyboard is beginning to fall apart :)
