Install a Palm prc file from Mint to my Palm pilot

Postby gwohlgeschaffen on Mon Oct 13, 2008 1:03 pm

Just a quick question... I have a couple .prc palm files which I downloaded and saved to the MyPDA directory. Now I want to hot sync and have these files downloaded from Linux Mint to my Palm. I know that gnome-pilot has a "File" conduit which I have set to "Enabled." The "Backup" conduit is set to "Enabled" and "Backup only changed databases" is checked. After hot syncing, the new .prc files do not get downloaded to the Palm. Do I have them in the wrong directory? Thanks for your help.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Ok, I found the solution on the Ubuntu site. The more I use Linux, the more I like it! :D The link is:
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-530629.html

Here is how to do it in Linux Mint...

Installing Files to Palm Pilot in Linux

Click on System, Preferences, Palm OS Devices to open gnome-pilot program. Click the Conduits tab, scroll down to File, click Settings and choose Enable.

Right-click on a file you want to put on your palm (a .PRC or .PDB) and select Open With Other Application... Click the arrow to expand and select Open With Other Application, Custom Command, and type: “gpilot-install-file --later” or leave off the “--later” to sync immediately. Click OK. Now, whenever you double-click on a prc, it'll be set to install on the next hotsync.

You can get the visual confirmation of having installed the files by checking the log file on the PDA after the hot-sync.
