Schedule things - Gnome semi solved

I need to schedule my torrents to start at 2am and stop at 10am. (Gnome).

My ISP gives a very high allowance for downloading in that time but a limited amount outside that time. Right now my "peak allowance" disappears quite quickly and my "off peak" hardly gets used as i'm always asleep at those times.

I would either like a script or a GUI program that would let me control the situation. Probably something that launches Transmission at 2am and closes it at 10am. Or any other suggestions you have, thanks!

---

i'm now looking at this as an option

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install gnome-schedule
i will report back on my results, more ideas welcome :)

---

it doesn't work :( ... a test works, but it does not work at scheduled times..

gnome-schedule was what I'd recommend

Thanks for that, I went over it again to see if I had missed anything.

I set a task to run "transmission" at 2am everyday. (I also set one to do the same thing in a couple of minutes from the time it is now, just to test it)

If i click "run selected task" the task works, but if i wait for the time i chose for the task, noting happens.... :?

has anyone made this work?

Kinda fix

Deluge bittorrent client has a plugin for scheduling torrents. I now have it set to run 2am - 10am just as I need :)
