MintBackup method to save default settings

Post by Algeorge »

Hi is there any method to save the your backup settings prior to the backup being made, so that it can be reused?

The application has a known fault in that it cant backup some files eg .lastpass and .mozilla directory. IMHO when it cant backup, it should continue on but leave a log entry.

Anyway, Im now onto by 4th attempt to backup because of various errors.

Otherwise this is a nice, simple GUI backup.

mintBackup does not allow to store the settings. There are other limitations, most prominent the need to run it as root.

I strongly recommend to use another tool for your daily backup. Best experiences here with backintime.
(mintBackup is made mainly with the idea of backing up before installing a new major version of Mint.)

Hi Algeorge,

Another really nice backup program is "Aptik" which I use, see link below. On my system, I have to run it from terminal using command "sudo aptik-gtk".

Aptik

To install Aptik using the PPA method, open a console terminal, type in, or copy & paste, each line below one by one:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:teejee2008/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install aptik

Hope this helps ...
