I have recently installed Linux Mint on my system and Texmaker with it, and I am a newbie to Linux... Texmaker is installed successfully, and the program runs just fine, but it won't build the file when I hit F1. I get an error message saying "Could not start the command." Also, trying to build produces a .log file, of which the contents are the following:
This is pdfTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.40.3 (Web2C 7.5.6) (format=latex 2009.1.9) 10 JAN 2009 15:16

Can someone please help me? Having a LaTeX editor is one the few applications I really need...

Re: Texmaker won't build...
I'm not sure about this app, but you say build which makes me think you are compiling (one way or the other)
Did you install build essentials - you can do it from mintInstall

Re: Texmaker won't build...
I have installed build essential, and yes, build means compile. The document I am trying to compile just doesn't... It's not due to faulty code, the program simply won't do what it's supposed to. It might be some path or whatnot that's not correctly set.
Also, another question; how do you install new LaTeX packages?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Texmaker won't build...
I can't say anything about the error - the info is simply not enough
If you search for Latex you find it in mintInstall as well as Synaptic

Re: Texmaker won't build...
I fixed it by installing a whole other LaTeX editor altogether... It works fine, so I won't complain!
