You need to give some more relevant informations in order to get help. Please tell us:

- The video card make and model that you have.
- The version of video restricted drivers in use.

Generally speaking, the problem you are experiencing seems to have been caused by Compiz, and therefore I suggest you do these:

- Disable Compiz and see whether videos still flicker.
- Install VLC from the repos (through Synaptic) and check if videos also flicker there.
